Natural long hair is the best decoration of every woman, but main reason why I am doing this is because I love my natural hair. My husband, most of my friends, and some of my colleagues say, that my hair is beautiful. I can't evaluate it myself, this decision is fully in everybody's hands (eyes). My name is Lenka, I am thirty-something, I'm living in a one town in Czech Republic and I'm working in technical administration. I started growing my hair about ten years ago, I had short or mid length before. My hair is naturally curly, it was never colored or permed. Across all these ten years I visited hair salon just once. I am perfectly happy with cutting my fringes only and periodical trims of split ends. I confess, that I had some moments in these long years, when I wanted to cut all that hair off, but my husband always explained to me, that haircut is a thing of several minutes, but growing ...
I want to say to all women, which hesitate, that having long hair is good idea - there are many false preconceptions - for instance that long hair is very heavy and costs much time to arrange. I wash my hair once a week, I use the blow dryer only for the fringes, the rest of my hair I air-dry only and drying doesn't take longer than two hours. I like french braids and other ponytails and this type of styling takes only five or so minutes. So, having long hair is great and your husbands and friends will receive a satisfaction by looking at you because most of men love long hair - that is a well known thing.

Better than all that saying is the seeing - look and enjoy.

You can find answers for some questions about my hair here. Frank, we are using some of your questions. Sorry.

What's your name?
My name is Lenka.

What's your age?
I am thirty-something.

Which country are you from?
I'm living in the Czech Republic.

What do you do as profession?
I am working as an accountant.

Please describe as detailed as possible your natural type of hair (e.g. curly / wavy / straight; color; length).
Natural type of my hair is thick wavy, my length is momentarily below my waist, color ranges from light-red to platinum blonde.

WASHING

In average, how often do you wash your hair during the week?
I wash my hair once a week usually.

Do you wash your hair seperately, or in one turn while e.g. taking a shower? What do you do with your hair while taking a bath?
I wash my hair while showering.

Do you use special products for the wet care of your hair (e.g. shampoo, conditioner, 2 in 1)? If so, try to name the best product you found.
I use various kinds of revitalizing shampoos, conditioners, products for treatment of splitting ends and hair masks - e.g. Organics Vital, Clairol Herbal Essences, Wella Vivality products and other.

DRYING

Do you blow-dry your hair? If so, do you find that it has side effects for your hair?
I use blow-dryer for bangs only, the rest of my hair gets air-dry only. I think, that using hot blow-dryer will burn my hair.

Before you dry your hair, do you use care products (e.g. creams, gels)?
Yes, setting lotion for bangs only. I use hair mask every two weeks and treatment for hair-ends everytime I shampoo my hair.

How long does it take to air-dry your hair, and how long while blow-drying?
Drying of my bangs takes about 10-15 minutes, drying of the rest of my hair takes about 1-2 hours in dependency of air temperature. I don't use blow-drying for my whole hair. completely.

When your hair is dry, do you apply dry care products?
No.

Describe roughly your daily brushing / combing routine.
I divide my hair in the centre to two identical halves, I start combing from ends to top each halve separately. After finishing it, I comb these halves together. Before I create some hairdo, I comb all hair carefully for several times.

CUT

Do you have your "own" hairdresser?
Yes, my husband.

SPECIAL EVENT AND NOT

Which hair style(s) do you prefer when you have a special event which requires to style yourself?
Nothing special, sometimes loose hair, sometimes a hairdo.

Do you think there's a special clothing which fits best to long hair?
It isn't necessary to wear some extravagant clothing when hair is beautiful - that is the main thing. I mean, that simply is best.

In the case that you want to hang out, how do you wear your hair?
I comb my hair to ponytail.

WORST and BEST

What was the worst thing in your life regarding your hair?
The worst thing in my life (hair-related) was experience with hairdresser. I had mid-length hair in secondary school and I went to hairdresser to trim my ends only. I finished with short hair, I couldn't forget it for a long time and I cried for a long time too. After this experience I don't trust hairdressers.

What the best?
Best is the feeling, that my hair pleasures not only me, but others as well. I am glad, that there are many good products for long hair on the market, and I can give my hair appropriate care.

GENERAL

Do you feel that long hair attracts special attention?
Yes, I would like it to be less striking sometimes.

How do you set your hair when you go to bed?
After thorough combing, before going to bed, I lift up my hair and spread it on the pillow. This way it gets out of my way and I don't lay on it.

Since which age do you have long hair (in case of short cuts, count from that time onwards)?
I started growing my hair long at about 22.

Can you recommend to wear hair very long, if the hair type is suitable?
Yes. It's beautiful, it's feminine and it's glamorous. Men think the same way as I do.

If you could have a certain hair style (or length) for just oneday, and would find yourself back with the old style the next day, what would be your wish?
I have no such wish.

If you work professionally, do you feel that business limits your possibilities to wear long hair, or even restricts it?
Yes, of course - there are many restrictions in work, employers require conservative look, therefore I comb my hair to various ponytails usually. It don't regret, I compensate for it outside the office.
